The Atelier
Two hides, nine hours, one wallet.
We buy full-grain hides from two family tanneries — one in Tuscany, one in Chennai — both vegetable-tanning with pit liquors rather than chrome. Nothing is corrected, embossed or sprayed to hide a scar. The marks stay.
Every piece is cut, skived, glued, stitched and burnished by one artisan who signs the inside seam. It is slower. It is the only way we know how to make something worth keeping for thirty years.
